Reading the post on leds i have noticed that many people are only interested in price. Lighting is one of the most important elements in maintaining a reef tank. I think we need to look at test results not whats the best deal. Leds are a long term investment and quality and correct spectrum is what we need to address. There are many options available when it comes to lighting so you need to do your homework wheter its t-5s , halide or led. What do you think?

To a point yes. But, there are many LED units out there. I've seen many of the EBay units on tanks that run and do as well as the name brand ones.
Halides are way cheaper on the DIY side of things.
Also T-5s being on Ebay also, i've seen way to many tanks using them, and doing quite well. So there are deals out there to be had, and not pay the name brand price.

If you consider the following:

Performance
Spectrum
Reliability
Efficiency

You will also consider some of the more expensive LEDs less expensive in the long run.

All of us have bought that cheap pump starting out only to spend more to replace it.

I totally agree with Mike007 But would like to add

Never skimp on the following:

Lighting
Live Rock / Marco Rock
Flow
Skimming

Every successful Reef has the better of these four things.

Just my $.02 or $.0085 after all taxes:sad:
