[emoji41][emoji1303], I would like to try one of those someday.

All help and experience is welcomed! A bit scary not seeing much encrusting and wanting to make sure it's a legit lineage =] thanks all!

He's your buddy so I am assuming you trust him. It is difficult to positively identify those as HW due to the camera not being super clear and the colors being somewhat different. That is not to say that it's not a HW but it's not a super easy ID.

As far as paperwork, ask your buddy for the receipt, not to check him but to have a copy for your records in case anyone asks you to prove lineage...

Yes, If he is your buddy and you trust him. Id say its legit, but you can get some background too because you may sell some frags down the road and buyers would like to know too.

For a coral like this, name, price, yea not bad idea to have some paper work

Omg the ocean is counterfeiting frags..... FAKE! ;Nailbiting o_O

I know. I'm just saying that the "high end" frags are all coming out of the same ocean and soon they will collect more of the same colonies from the same place the original one was collected. This has happened with a lot of those pieces that are limited or high end or boutique. Actually, I'm taking that one. PM me if you are interested in Boutique frags.;Pompus

I know, I was agreeing with you, just some of the hysteria with pedigrees and what not, considering all these colonies no matter what color was collected at one point and it's really only rare until someone happens upon a random reef patch chock full of them. Unfortunately I can't play in the boutique market, at least if I don't want my throat slit in my sleep. ;Blackeye

I agree. The boutique coral market is ridiculously high priced. $100 or more for a 1" frag? I'm fine with wild collected as they are far less expensive so even if I lose one now and then it's not a big hit to the wallet.

it also depends on how much he is asking got the frag, if paying a pretty penny it couldnt hurt to ask for lineage evidence.

I've seen a few wild Homewreckers lately...

Too bad people have a hard time keep mariculture sps alive ... you don't see too many reefers sell frags
of there mariculture sps. If you do they don't ship well. Playing the lottery in my opinion and tried many time in the past.

According to my wife, anything that I buy that is "that expensive or even close!" Is considered a "homewrecker"..I kind like the name "widow maker" someone should call the next thousand dollar frag that..."widow maker" wait lemme trademark that! [emoji41]

If he's your friend, then he's your friend. Personally, I don't really trust (maybe respect is a better word?) people that sell SPS frags so small that you can easily count the polyps. Lineage or not. If you can't grow it out to a decent size, don't try and sell it. Embarrassing...

Homewreckers are tried and true it'll make a wonderful addition to your tank.
I know a couple people that have ordered Homewrecker-ish maricultures and now have lovely brown/ grey acros :) its not a Homewrecker unless it came from Jason's original piece
(but there are certainly hundreds of gorgeous maricultures out there)
