I am starting to think they are the same. I have a frag that was identical to lemon drops. I looked at them today and I noticed that they are starting to morph into AOIs. What do you all think?

I've always thought they were the same. I think you can toss Blue Eyed Dragon in as the same color morph as well. There are other zoanthids on zoa ID that IMO are the same and just at different stages of morphing, adjusting to the light in the tank, or are just under different lighting, yet were give their own name. Lunar Eclipse/X men/X Lunar Destroyer, Mean Greens/Neon Green/Kryptonite/Jade Ring, etc. etc.

I wish I did. When I got them they didn't stand out much so I never thought to take a pic of them. Sorry.

Here's a shot of my lemondrops and a shot of my aoi's. I have them pretty much right next to each other on the bottom of my tank and they look very different. Lemondrops are extremely small. They are smaller then any other zoa I have seen. The color on the lemondrops is dark purple. I used a flash in the pick so they look lighter.

Mine grow pretty good. About 2-3 polyps a month. My lemondrops grow very slow for some reason. I've had the same 12 polyps for a long time now.

May I ask: how long have they been next to one another down low? (I.e. 3 weeks or 4 months or ?)
Secondly, do they happen to be close enough to one another that you could get them in the same shot? Or would it be too much to ask to temporarily move them next to one another?
Mr. Ugly did this once for me and it put an end to the "Armagedon and AoG are the same" debate, heh!

Who-Dah they have both been on the bottom of my tank for a few months. I tried the lemondrops up high but they started to lose the purple centers so I moved them back down. I'll get a side by side shot sometime this week.
