Hello all, been in the hobby a while, dont post much. Here is my problem, I purchased a Lemonpeel Angelfish from Divers Den with several other fish for my 180g FOWLR almost two weeks ago and it is not eating. The other fish I received in the same order are eating great, including a Potters Angelfish. I am feeding a mixture of fresh/frozen clams, frozen PE mysis, LRS fish roe and live black worms. I also put seaweed on a clip daily, at first he appeared to nip at it but for the past week or so nothing. I recently purchased live brine to try and entice feeding, the other fish loved it but nothing from the Lemonpeel... He just appears to mope around the tank, and he is definitely not being picked on by any of the other fish.

Any help/advice would be appreciated.

What other fish do you have? Any spots or wounds on the fish? Is it hiding? Is it a well established tank? Does the angel pick on rocks and have you tried spirulina or other algae preparations or perhaps hikari’s angel food or other mixes that contain sponge?

Try Hikari Seaweed Extreme pellets, Ocean Nutrition Formula Two flakes or some kind of Spirulina infused frozen food like stated above. If he is picking on rocks he can go for a while without eating actual prepared food, good luck.

I have a Copperband, Mystery Wrasse, Midas Blenny, Bicolor Blenny, Clown, Cromis, Clown Goby, also the aforementioned Potters Angel. It is not a well established tank, it is rather new at around three months after the cycle. It has no nips or wounds on his body or fins and used to pick on the rocks and a bit at the nori (at lease showed interest) but stopped after a while (few days maybe?). It is not hiding, honestly moping is the best description I have. I will purchase some Angel specific diets and try that, hopefully it works, thanks.

angels will go after one another, but the two look different enough so hopefully it’s not bullying. Are all other fish eating ok?

In general dwarf angels like to graze in well established tanks. Also, 2 weeks seems long without any food so perhaps it’s catching some.

You could try mastick food, while the ingredients may not be exactly what angels look for the fact the paste stays in the tank for some time may “appeal” to its natural instincts.

Good luck!
