Leonardo's Apogon Reef

Looks awesome, Leo. When I saw the tang picture on FB I thought, "He's had that fish forever!" Seven years is a great run, many more to come :thumb:

Pocillopora Reef has has really matured since the last update.

I added some more corals, the colonies grew out and I started to incorporate Acropora again.

Nothing in the setup changed, although I stopped dosing anything, except Balling (Randy's 2-part) and Balling trace elements.

No more GFO is needed, the overall bioload keeps phosphates low and skimming wet doesn't hurt either. I use a small filterbag (baseball size) of GAC in the overflow to passively filter and take out some organics. Changed every month.

Here are some photo's I took today.

Wow.....stunning! Those pocillopora colonies are breathtaking! What type of surgeonfish/tang is that darkish yellow guy with some black on him? Very well done

Leonardo_ your tank inspired me to quit dreaming and start a tank of my own almost one year ago. Sincerely, thanks. Your tank is even more beautiful now, which I would not have thought possible - everything I aspire to. Please keep sharing.

Thank you! It is an Acanthurus pyroferus Mimic Heraldi. It is a regional variety in color that mimics the color and appearance of Centropyge heraldi. Normally A. pyroferus is brown but this one stays a golden yellow.
