Leopard Wrasse hasn’t shown himself

Hey all,
So I’ve been through this before months back when I added my leopard wrasse. He disappeared into the sand bed for a week and then finally came out, and accustomed himself to my lighting schedule. Great eater, never any sign of sick or distress. The past 3 days, he has not came out at all. I am not going to go digging, but is this normal for them to not come out after being established into the tank? No new additions, the only thing I can think of is over the past few weeks I have been fighting a Dino outbreak, started dosing microbacter7 last week and set up a UV today but other than that there is nothing that could have hurt him or anything.
Any advice?

The most common reason an established leopard goes back into hiding is bc they’re being bullied. Have you noticed any tank mates chasing it or charging at it?

Not at all to be honest, unless my yellow tang was ticking him off but for the most part no tank mates ever went after him as far as I know.

That’s good. It could be the dinos then. If they cover most of your rock work and the leopard can’t or won’t pick at the rocks bc of the dinos it could stress it enough to go back into hiding. Hopefully you can beat your dinos soon and your leopard will be back out doing his thing. Keep us posted!

Still no appearance from the leopard wrasse. Also still fighting dinos. Part of me wants to go digging for him but I’m not sure if that’s the right move. It’s been like 3 weeks now

Absent bullying as noted, it’s unusual for an acclimated leopard to bury for any reason beyond daily sleep cycle. Had you noticed any pinching/weight loss. That’s what usually gets them. After 3 weeks there’s probably nothing left to find.

You look in the overflow box, sump ect... I found my in the sump

No weight loss noted before he disappeared he was always out eating and stuff until I started having this dino outbreak

This is the crazy, this leopard wrasse is a beast.

So a couple months back I'm feeding the tank and notice the wrasse is not coming out to eat. Hmm. Next day, same thing, not I get worried. I'm look all over for him and no sign at all. For a week I'm looking for it. Nothing.

So I'm thinking the poor thing got scared at something and ran into the bubble tip anemome. Goner for sure. Fast forward to today, I'm looking at the tank and the dang thing pops his head out from behind a rock. Looking skinny and very skidish for sure. I lift the hood to feed and it darts in the sand.

What do I do at this point? Any ideas? Let it be, catch it (try).

So, have hope. It may be a while before you see him.

I have hope he’s under there somewhere and going to come up one day lol. On another note, how did you overcome your Dinos? Because I’m getting really frustrated now it’s been a while I’ve been battling this

First- Check phosphates and nitrates to assure theyre not elevated.
Here is full program:
Prepare by starting with a water change and blow this stuff loose with a turkey baster and siphon up loose particles.
Turn lights off (at least white and run blue at 10-15%) for 5 days and at night dose 1ml of hydrogen peroxide per 10 gallons for all 5 nights. If you dont have light dependent coral- turn all lights off.
During the day dose 1ml of liquid bacteria (such as bacter 7) per 10 gallons.
Clean filters daily and DO NOT FEED CORAL FOODS OR ADD NOPOX as it is food for dinos.
Day 5,, you can start with blue lights - ramping up and work your white lights up slowly

I followed this for my dinos. Different dinos have different approaches. I am actually going to do an extra day... Just in case.

So my Leppard wrasse jammed himself in one of my sps colonies and died yesterday.
I can't understand why he was gone for 2 months. He was very pinched in the gut so I know he wasn't eating. Could it really be the dinos??

Hard to see how. Leopard wrasses are really twitchy, and don't take well to tank changes (including new tankmates).

Yup ^ this. They’re so fragile and die pretty easily. Obviously the most gorgeous fish can’t be hardy, that would just be too perfect.
