Leopard Wrasse Help

It depends on who you ask, as some people will quarantine for up to 3 months. In my quarantine I always run copper, and then when I add fish to my dt I treat with prazi even if no symptoms are shown. The copper kills things like velvet and ich, and i do it in qt because there aren't any inverts in there, then I treat with prazi for about a week in my dt and that will deal with most parasitic diseases. I've noticed more so with saltwater fish that diseases can go without symptoms or lay dormant for weeks to months before popping up out of nowhere, most of the time its because something with the water quality changed and then out of nowhere ich arises. Qting for longer should help a lot with preventing disease. Whenever getting a new fish always assume it is diseased.

How long do you QT? Do you keep any wrasse? Would hate to kill a healthy wrasse by putting prazi in my DT.

I've kept and still have quite a few. They probably won't die from prazi, i've treated them with it before without any problems, its just some people like to overdose with it and thats when it would be more dangerous to them. I personally qt depending on where I get my fish. I know thats a bad practice, but anyways say I get a fish from a store I dont know well and the tanks look awful I will qt for about 4 weeks. If its from a place that I know very well its probably a shorter amount of time because I know what they treat all of their tanks with and how long its been there. For instance my favorite store treats all fish only tanks with copper one week and prazi the next. If you don't treat your quarantine you should probably keep them in for about a month and a half, however I am impatient and have never qt'd that long except for one fish I knew was exposed to velvet in which case it was in qt for 3 months getting treated.

Wrasses are known to be silent carriers. Due to their thick slime coat, signs of external parasites such as white spots are not always present so it could be the case with your wrasse. Wrasses almost always come in with flukes and internal parasites so I always treat with General Cure followed by a either 2 weeks Copper or Tank Transfer Method. My total QT time is around 3-4 weeks

That is a good point. However Given the situation with his fish I think treating for flukes is probably the best chance of survival. A fish gasping and not moving is already a bad sign and if it's velvet I don't think it could survive the stress of copper treatment, if it can even make it to that treatment. 3-4 weeks is a good number as long as you treat it like you said. With no treatment a fish could be asymptomatic

I just finished 2 rounds of PraziPro in my DT. I have 12 wrasses: 2 flashers, 5 fairy, 3 leopard, 2 hali.

Do you have any pictures of your leopards, those are one of my favorite wrasses by far. Mine passed away a couple months ago after having him for six years. I need another one, I'm either waiting for a store to get one in or wait until i need to order enough fish so i dont have to pay for shipping

Sorry about your loss. I love leopard wrasses. I'll take some tomorrow but mines are a female blue star and a female potter's wrasse. I want to add a harem of each kind but I've reached my DT's capacity. I meant 2 leopards and 3 hali. I forgot the Earmuff is a halichoeres lol.
