Hey reefers,

I am thinking about getting a Female Leopard Wrasse (currently have her on hold at my lfs) but I heard they can be jumpers, has anyone have any experience with them jumping as i currently do not have a lid on my tank, and with them eating as I have read that they can be hard to get eating? While I was in the store I did have them feed her and she went aggressively after the food.

I had one in my previous system for a few years. She got to about 4 inches long, ate like a pig, never jumped, and was a complete ****** to any other leopard variety I attempted to house with her (but perfectly fine with other wrasse types and other fish species). If your system has sand (they're sand sleepers), and ample places to hide, they generally spend most of their time in the lower half of the water column. Just my experience thus far...

If you’ve found a leopard eating frozen then you should go for it.

I’ve got one that’s only a few weeks old that just started eating frozen recently.

I learned after 2 leopard wrasser jumped from my tank, now I have the lids.

Is better if you have them, there are easy to do

It's eating like a champ, it was in with some blue damsels and was basically out eating them. I'm gonna make a lid for my tank, not gonna cost me a ton

Buy the frame on home depot and I found the mesh on Amazon, cheaper than brs. If you have prime it will be in your home in 2 days

Any suggestions on the mesh

Got the leopard wrasse, doing drip acclimation now and got everything I need to my a diy screen

I bought a female and male leopard a few months ago. Put them both in, they both dove in some sand nearly immediately, female came out a few days later, haven't seen the male since. female definitely has a schedule when she makes rounds. Haven't had a lid on the tank for 3 weeks and she's still there. Pretty little fish.

I wish the male was there. Dug around in the sand and haven't found any bodies.

My female leopard wrasse is getting a schedule based on my lighting im noticing. I love her colors and i feel like she is always on the hunt for something

they are one of my fav fish, stunning colours, peaceful etc

I think they just ship poorly, as once established they are pretty hardy. Mine has been through quite a lot :)

I’ve had her two years and during that time I never had a cover, however I have one now for peace of mind.

Okay, update on the leopard wrasse, she is doing really well, eating (though not as aggressively as in the store) froze mysis, gonna try to start trying to get her to eat pellets as well.

Now my LFS said that they might be able to get a male leopard wrasse, if I would get him and introduce him into the tank, would the female fight him?

Yes get a lid, and Consider a juvenile red coris. looks great both as juvenile and adult phase if your looking. There not reef safe though, most leopards are not as adults, but juvenile fish allows you to get a better shot at them being calmer on inverts I think long run. awesome looking for sure.
