I got a leopard wresse 3 days ago. The whole tank is very healthy and all thr fish are great even the wrasse "when he comes out"

But he spends a LOT of time in the sand and I only notice him out about an hour or two a day. Is that normal or bad? I was thinking maybe he just needs nore time to ajust.

In most cases it is a matter of adjusting its internal clock with your light cycle. Be sure to feed when it is out.

In some cases there may be a tankmate that behaves aggressively and drives it to stay buried.

I only have 2 black ice clowns in with it. I have been feeding every time I see him. The tank also has a nice fudge snd my pod count is rrallu high. I think I am going to try to change tgr lighting schedule

There is no need to change your lighting schedule. It will adjust, over about a 2 month time.

I'm sure you are, but look very closely at your sand bed, you may see just an eye peaking out as it acclimates. For awhile with mine all I could see was an eye, then the next day more of its face, then more, I found it quite cute. Soon you will be able to set a clock to the schedule your wrasse keeps, mine keeps strict bed / wake up times, gotta get that beauty rest.

Changing the light schedule is actually about the worst thing you can do as it simply delays the acclimation process. Most leoprds arrive with their internal clock backwards and it just takes a bit for them to adjust. Just try to work out when they emerge and be prepared to feed then.

It's very normal for a new sand burying wrasse to spend a lot of time in the sand for the first week or two. They are getting used to a new environment.
