Lesser of 2 evils? URGENT

got my royal gramma through Flukes w hypo. Today is the day I start to raise salinity. But he’s also now displaying an array of other disturbing illnesses. Dots (could be Velvet that I’m treating in other QT), or brook?!? How’d that happen?!?!?!?

Raising salinity fast is bad. I know. But so is velvet. So:

A - raise salinity w in 48 hrs and treat w copper

B - raise salinity over a week and hope he’s alive long enough for copper

C - copper NOW in hypo

I’ve got a pile of meds coming but it may take another week to get here.

Ok, first what symptoms is he displaying? I’m not sure I see velvet but it could be the picture also.

His scales are raised. His skin appears to be soggy. And he’s got a huge wound from a fluke. Plus spots on tail. He’s very very shy. I tried a freshwater dip and he immediately went belly up. Weak. Spends all day hiding. Not losing weight but I don’t see him eat. Again, he’s incredibly shy.

Daily Diet:
Live baby brine shrimp
Frozen brine shrimp
Frozen bloodworms
Frozen mysis shrimp
Flakes
Frozen food soaked in garlic guard and vitamins.

Meds on hand:
Cupramine
Melafix
Pimafix
Paraguard

Meds to be delivered tomorrow
- Methylene Blue
- Focus
- Prime

Meds to be delivered by end of next week unless they get confiscated at border
- Focus
- Trifecta (Kanaplex, Metroplex, Furan-2) combination powder
- NFG
- CP
- Prazi
- Prazi and Metro combination powder

Anything I can do for him now? Paraguard directions say you can do a 1 hr dip.

Hopefully they will chime in, I’m 99% sure you can’t use copper with hypo but Cupramine might be a different story. Can you try to get a better pic of the spots etc?

According to Seachem forums, curpamine is ok to do w hypo but it’s advisable to go slow and watch for signs of stress. Impossible w a fish already weak and showing signs of stress.

Wound was white a week ago and you could see a hole. Hole gone. Colour coming back.

According to Seachem forums, curpamine is ok to do w hypo but it’s advisable to go slow and watch for signs of stress. Impossible w a fish already weak and showing signs of stress.

I think his biggest problem right now is a bacterial infection likely brought on by the fluke infestation. I see the two spots but I wouldn’t call that velvet yet. He needs antibiotics ASAP unfortunately you don’t have anything I’m familiar with. I did a quick read on what you have and would try a Paraguard bath then followed with 14 days of Pimafix and Melafix. I’m not sure of the comparability of the two ABX’s with hypo but something is better than nothing. Hopefully one of the guys will chime in soon.

I have had fish that appear to have ich or brook after a stressful period, and the spots disappear. Most likely Lymphocystis, which appears like ich at first, and is caused by stress and less-than-favorable water conditions. the other spots may be something fungal or bacterial. Nothing looks like a parasite to me in those pictures, but I have far less experience. @Humblefish has had a lot of good info to offer regarding treatments. I just did a rally bath for my 2 clowns that showed signs of brook, which receded on its own after a day or so, which is uncharacteristic of brook. I treated anyway, and they will be in QT for a while.

So I tried the Paraguard dip. Upon catching him, i see a new raw spot. Put him in dip and he immediately went belly up so I pulled him out. New raw spot pictured. Also, he lost a few scales during capture. Can be seen in pic. Is there any point or should I euthanize him? He’s gone downhill today. Bad. Not swimming right anymore. Hiding at bottom on angle

I think Velvet spots are more numerous and uniform in size. Ich spots are fewer and random in their shape.

Update: this morning, he was bloated and, for the first time, had white stringy poo. No idea how intestinal parasites got in. I’ve had him for 5 weeks and he’s had 1 issue after another. Flukes, all-too-common infection resulting from flukes, and now, internal parasites/worms. He was barely hanging on so I euthanized him.
