I filled a 10 gal qt with premixed sw from the lfs on Tuesday. Just recieved my hydrometer...the lfs water pegged the meter...took me replacing about 4 gallons of the premix with ro/di to get it acceptable.

Agreed the lesson I learned was even if there is no bubbles on the swing arm it can still be way off. I didnt get that till someone brought their refractometer and compared it to my hydrometer. It was wayyyyyyyyyy low. After that my corals got way healthier and vibrant!

Any cheap one off of amazon will work well, just make sure its labeled ATC (auto temperature correcting)

Order some 35ppt calibration fluid while you are at it. I calibrate mine really quick at least once a month when i'm lazy and before every reading when i'm being responsible.

+whatever, lol, on the refractometer, +1 on the Calibration fluid, right now the BRS refractometer with the LED in on sale for 36 dollars

If you got the water on Tuesday and tested today ...I think it's of the charts because of evaporation...or have you been topping off everyday ....just a thought .!!!
