Today was sad. I'm a dog person and for the first time I was really sad by a fish. I never thought fish had personalities but they do! I'm new to the hobby and well the powerhead I bought was not good. First a snail died from it...no biggie. But today my strawberry pseudochromis AKA Mag got sucked into it and died. I'm so crushed I've debated throwing in the towel.

O no! Sad to here. This is a hobby that you can't get to personal with the live stock. Love'em, feed'em and give'em a good home but things happen in this hobby. Maybe turn your power head down a little.

Don't throw in the towel. I know its hard, but you do have to remember that all creatures die. Most likely none of us will out live our fish. Learn from your mistakes, don't run from them.

Thanks guys! I really needed to hear that. I just have a big heart and I hate the life cycle.

I'm with ya man. I had a Royal Gramma that had a lot of personality. It died because I moved too quickly on transferring livestock from my 14g biocube to my 65gallon. I loved that fish.

I hear you... when I moved house and had to relocate my whole tank, I dropped one of my clownfish on the floor without noticing (he was hidden deep in the anemone and fell out when I removed the rock with the nem on it to put it in a bucket for transport. When I realized what had happened I rushed to put him in a bucket of water and he just fell to the bottom... I was sure he was dead. I had never realized how attached I was to the little buggers until then-- I burst into tears!! Fortunately he was just stunned and recuperated by the time I reached my new home, but I did learn that day how easy it is to get attached to them.

It's a good thing that you feel that way-- if you didn't it would mean life had made you hard and destroyed your sensitivity. You should treasure it because it's an easy thing to lose in this world :)
