Let’s see those basement sump setups!

I have a tank right above my fish room and debated a basement sump for weeks. we decided not to as we would have to cut through our new floors Ok no big deal but I had the floor reinforced right under the tank so there is a 7x7 stud there and did not want to drill though it and no good way to go around it with a lot of work and head ache.

so i decided not to do it.
that said I did have a big and useful post on the askBRS FB page with a ton of basement sumps pics . worth checking out.

also when house shopping, look for a home that has what you want as far reefing. I love peninsula tanks perfect room dividers!

Thank you will do I’ll check out that page! Our house sold and we are moving totally out Saturday. We have been looking at house and the wife knows that we have to work around our reefing needs luckily she enjoys it just as me and really wants a bigger tank!

This is my basement sump. It is not right under my tank. It is down and 30 feet over. I use a reeflo hammerhead for a return pump. I do not need any power heads because it turns over the 240 gallons in my display tank every 6 minutes. My basement is not finished and it is cold down there so I run Halides they heat the whole area lol. You can do whatever your imagination wants. You do not have to stick to the norms. My display is 10 feet up and 30 feet over from the fish room. Have fun
