I have a reefer 260 barebottom tank with an oversized skimmer. I intend to do 20% water change outs weekly. After I put my fish in I am going to be stocking my tank with SPS corals. I think I understand my limits on the amount of fish, but I intend to go a little higher than that limit. Let me know what you think.
Fish list:
2 yellow tangs
1 royal tang
1 pink square anthias
1 royal gramma
3 green chromies
1 royal dottyback
2 lightning clowns
1 purple fire fish
1 tailspotted blenny
2 shrimps

2 yellows will probably end up with one. They don't usually like conspecifics. Especially in a smaller tank
The chromis are the same. You usually end up with one.
The clowns may also be an issue. Maroons are highly territorial and just flat out mean as well

I hate to be the tang police, but my concern is 3 tangs in a 3 ft tank. I have 3 in my 120 gal 4 ft tank and its to small which is why I will be getting rid of 1 tang. Plus, bigger fish, aka, tangs, do put a load on a tank. Anyone who has one will agree that they put more in the tank by themselves than the rest of the smaller fish combined.

The tangs are the only thing in the tank that worries me. Maybe 2 tangs lol

You are still kinda of pushing it, but you can try it. Maybe a yellow tang and a bristletooth tang, but you will need to watch the fighting as there isn't much room for the other tang to get away and thus the fighting may continue.

In my opinion (im not as experienced as these other guys FYI), you could do multiple Tangs in any tank. The catch: ONLY KEEP THEM WHILE THEY'RE YOUNG AND SMALL, keep trading off when they get too big or you may end up with some bad results. As for maroon clowns, they're just plain jerks for no reason. I like the look of the lighting maroon as much as the next guy, but they are massive jerks. My LFS has a huge one, but I won't ever get a maroon again. I hope this helps.
Also, you could always just do one Tang for now, and upgrade the tank in the future to be able to keep more. There's never a rush on this hobby, patience is key!

What about 1 tang and a copperband butterfly
If it's a smaller Tang you should be fine, but butterfly fish are VERY tricky and tough in my opinion.
Smaller tangs: Yellow, Tomini, Yellow Eye Kole etc..
As for butterfly fish, I can't really give you answer besides adding it before the Tang. Otherwise the Tang may be aggressive towards it. I've never kept a butterfly fish, but would like to in the future.
