Let me see your DIY algae scrubbers!

As I approach the new tank build, I'm leaning towards no refugium and running a scrubber. My tiny monkey brain just thinks its a better strategy based on history and experience. Does anyone have any good designs or could share their own DIY scrubbers so I can try and figure this out? I may buy one, but the price tag puckers my behind....if anyone has a "store bought" scrubber I'd listen to opinions on it. There's an icecap one that isn't that expensive (relatively) but I feel like I could rig something up comparable for a fraction of the price at this point. I am planning on running a skimmer as well at this point (I already have one....SCA 302), but leaving cheato and the "IS IT TUMBLING" problems behind is appealing. Thanks for the help guys.

Did you plan or calculate any type of flow rate or did you wing it?

I winged it. But I have had it maybe 7 or 8 years. No problems yet and it is simple to remove it to clean. Just unscrew a union and the entire thing comes off.
