Let's make a thread for one-stop shopping on what each coral needs/hates to thrive. If this is successfull, I envision a moderator taking all of the data and compiling it into a post that will become a sticky for all to reference. I also envision starting with generalities such as SPS, LPS, Softies, then expanding our knowledge base to break down each category further by type, then specific species....
Example:
Photosynthetic Gorgonian: Needs lots of light, Mod to high flow, low feeding. Then, the experts can get more specific by tagging on with specific temp paramaters and tolerance of temp swings, the same with pH, salinity, alkalinity...
SPS: Generally lots of light, extremely clean water, extremely stable conditions (temp, salinity pH dKH), Phophates below .03ppm - so, generally for experienced, involved enthusiasts only.
I am no expert. I need experts to throw your knowledge into responses that we (or me?) can compile to make this a one-stop thread for people to determine how to care for the animals they have aquired, or better yet, which animals are best for there level of expertice/time/equipment/budget... This can have the potential to make the hobby much more rewarding for all.
Has this already been done? If so, great idea! Where?
If not, are you all in?
