Generally, yes. I think this is the argument against "All-n-1" not being the right way to deal with elements, especially in your case where you don't want to do water changes for replenishments.i beleive and i think that we all can agree that we should only dose what our tank needs. if you have 5 elements that are low in your system / in high demand by your corals and you can only get those five elements thru one product that conatins 15 addtional elements, then would one agree the your oding the tank on the 15 elements that are not being used by your corals as fast as the 5 you need?
Maybe you do not need one or more of the components.why should you not dose the all in one products like seachems reef trace, red sea abcd and replenish for example? FYI this is not product bashing thread
Did you post on the wrong thread?Generally speaking Calcium Formate can form Formaldehyde via biological pathways in reef tanks.
There's ways it breaks down to carbon dioxide such as UV, oxidation, Pseudomonas, Methylobacterium via metabolic processes.
My two cents: you probably get more growth without afr, but then you give up the convenience of afr. Whether or not the formaldehyde has an effect on the basis of dilution, the above processes, UV, etc, seems to be determined, but I haven't seen people's tanks crash because of the product and I could just be picking cherries in my memory with that statement.
