the pens are a very exspolive team the red wings are good but the pens can keep up and or out play anyone if crosby and malkin cant get it done somone else will just becouse there not a big name player dont mean they cant play they didnt make it to the pros for nothing any team on any day can beat anyone and we will just have to watch and see what the pens and wings do if they playoffs turn out that way.

Guys guys guys....cant we all just get along.....and realize that the Pens are the better team.....

Your right, on any given day any team can beat another. However in a 7 game series things are a bit different. The Pens are an explosive team when they play against inferior teams. A good team will contain them and they aren't good enough on defence to stop a team like the Wings. Their success is merely an illusion because they haven't played anyone yet.

LOL, I think the evidence proves otherwise. I just got back from the game. The Wings are now up 2-0 and will be sitting back resting while the Pens struggle with the Canes.

They really did not look like any kind of elite team that you claim in that game last night. The Hawks played poorly and still took them to overtime. If the Wings play that way against the Pens they will be history.

I think what you mean to say is that the Wings will "make" history. Sorry Penguins, Cups aren't for kids. I think it's funny that you say "I" claim them to be "elite". It wouldn't be that they have the longest run of playoff appearances in pro sports at 18 years. I couldn't be that they won the cup in 1997, 1998, 2002, and 2008. It couldn't be because the have the best defenceman of a generation possibly the best in history who holds the record for Norris trophys, and has won 4 Stanley Cups. I am sure it's not because they have a commitment to excellence unsurpassed in the NHL or pro sports for that matter. It's not that they have a Hart trophy finalist who won the Selke and a Stanley Cup last year surrounded by the deepest talent rich team in the league. It's surely not because they have a goaltender with 3 Stanley Cups who has elevated his game for the playoffs once again. Definitely not because the organization knows how to win in the playoffs and has built their team accordingly. Yeah, it's because I say that their "elite". :snicker:

I never disputed their record or past accomplishments. I was discussing how they played last night. That would be present tense not past tense or future. I simply mean they did not play like an elite team. I could care less who calls them that. That was not meant to be a play on words with using you, they or we. How's this; they played a team that couldn't pass the puck if their life depended on it, and scored off of two major mistakes on the Hawks part. I really did not see a team that will roll over the Pens.

BTW, nice try avoiding the main point of my post.

Ha I hate to jump in here...but isn't it a hockey teams job to capitalize off of the other teams mistakes? Every goal scored in hockey is from the other team making a mistake. The Redwings are great at causing turn overs and pressuring teams...which in turn causes the other team to mess up. And the same Redwings team beat the same penguins team last year in the finals...so there is in fact AT LEAST one team that can "roll over" the Pens

Yes but according to my bud up there, they are so above all other teams that they should just be able to dominate. We know that they did roll over the Pens in the past. They have yet to do that this year. Again you Michigan people with the grammar issues.

I knew that you were going to comment on my grammar because you had nothing better to talk about. Next time I'll submit an essay checked by a professor of literature at the University of Michigan. I aPAULogize for my aPAULing response! :)

LOL I wasn't being grammar police. It was meant tongue n' cheek because I have been talking about now(current games) and you guys were talking about the past season. I could care less if somebody butchers the English language. Lord knows I do often enough.

is this normal two have 3 days in between games. i argued with like 3 people at work today that the game was on tonight. but came home and found out i was wrong.

That's funny. Most people thought the Hawks played much better than in game 1. The Wings played below thier capability and still came out with a victory by capitalizing on Chicago's mistakes. This is what playoff hockey is all about. Finding a way to win. When the game is competitive it often comes down to who makes a mistake and who can make them pay for that mistake. The Hawks made a mistake when it mattered most and the Wings pounced on them. Done. Move on to game 3 with a 2-0 lead.

I agree with everything here except that the Pens are the same team and the Wings are the same team. In actuality I don't think the Pens are as good as they were last year and the Wings are better.

time shall tell. pens are in my opion better then last year we have alot more players that are younger that have won the cup in the past and know how to get it done so what if the wings have all those big name cup winners. the pens will be just as good as the wings if not better makeing this series as good as the pens, caps series.

Ummm the Pens have.......................................4 players that have won. Funny that you should mention the Caps series and how close it was. Especially since the Caps are a one line team. I am curious what line match-ups you guys think will favor the Pens vs the Wings? Considering all four of the Wing's lines can score goals in bunches while being very responsible in their own end. What match-ups do you think favor the Pens?
