How, when, and how much do you do for you water change?

1. How do you remove waste water siphon from sump or DT/FT, drain from a valve, pump it out, remove waste and add new at same time?

2. How do you add new water dump in all at once, drip it in, pump in at controlled rate?

3. Do you do it in the morning, afternoon, when your PH is low or high, or just when ever you have time?

4. Do you do 10%, 20%, 30% water changes once a week, Bi weekly, monthly, Never?

5. How long has your change water been mixing for and what do you do with you waste water?

6. Do you add supplements to you change water?

7. Do you test before, after, or not at all.

1. I siphon from the display and clean the top layer of sand while doing so. 10% a week usually on Sunday afternoon.

2. I pump water in with a maxijet out of a 5 gallon bucket.

3. Whenever I have time on Sunday.

4. 10% a week, 50% every 6 months

5. Dump waster in drain and mix water for 24-48 hrs usually. Sometimes just a couple hours.

6. No supplements

7. Only Salinity unless something seems off.

1. I siphon water out of my frag tank and dispose of it. Then I siphon water out of my display tank and use it in my frag tank.

2. I siphon the water into the sump of the frag tank and display tank.

3. I do water changes in the morning.

4. 5% Biweekly

5. I mix the saltwater one hour before using. I have found that mixed saltwater loses alkalinity the longer it is mixed. The old water from the display tank is used in the frag tank. The old frag tank water goes down the drain.

6. No supplements

7. Test salinity

1) I siphon 5-10 gallons from the DT and about once a month, 5 gallons from the sump.

2) I pump the new water back in using an Aqueon pump out of a Brute trashcan.

3) I do it every weekend, whenever I have time.

4) I change between 10-15% every week.

5) I normally mix my salt (using RO/DI) the day before. I warm it to tank temperature and let the Aqueon pump mix it overnight. I unfortunately pump the waste water (using a universal pool pump) into my sump in the basement which then is pumped out into the yard.

6) I do not add anything to the water.

7) I test salinity only unless there appears to be an issue.

1. Water change line from manifold in sump drained from a valve.
2. Bucket with a mag pump a tubing. Full sump back up to the correct then slowly open the feed valve for DT.
3.my water change are done every Sunday hour after DT lights go out.
4. I change about 8 gallons every Sunday.
5. I start to mix my water from Thursday afternoon. I use my waste water to do water change on my 55gallon QT.
6. No supplements added.
7. Test salinity after every mix.

I recently started doing 3 WC a week.
I mix salt with RO/DI water and shake it up frequently for a couple of hours, test salinity, then start my water change.
Turn off ATO
Syphon 3 gallons from chaeto compartment of fuge.
Add 3 gallons of fresh salt water into top of DT
Repeat two more times.
I don't add supplements to my change water.

I have a septic tank and can't pour salt water down the drain, so every 3 gallons taken out I manually carry outside and pour it down the drain for the gutters.

1. I siphon water and detritus off the sandbed after the sand is clean the rest is siphoned from the middle of the water column.
2. Just pour it in.
3. I try to do it in the afternoon or early evening on Sunday.
4. 25% weekly water changes.
5. I like to mix the water the day before and let it sit in my mixing bucket overnight.
6. No supplements.
7. I test for salinity, po4, nitrates, alk, ph and calcium after the tank has settled down (a couple hours later). Then test for the salinity, po4, nitrates, alk, ph, calcium and magnesium on Wednesday every week.

1. Siphon part from DT and part from sump.
2. Pour back in into sump slowly and have the return pump, pump it back into DT.
3. Sunday mornings
4. 10% one week and 20% the next week.
5. 24hrs
6. I add AcroPower(amino acids) to new water.
7. Test for Alk, Mag, Cal, 12 hrs after water change.

1. Siphon out of the Sump.

2. Siphon the new water into the sump.

3. In the morning.

4. 5% once every two weeks or so. (Running algae scrubber for nitrate removal, 4 VERY small corals)

5. Once it's clear, it goes in. Dump down toilet.

6. I add prime because I use tap water, and buffer occasionally.

7. I test prior to the W/C so the prime and new salt doesn't affect results.

Apex controlled.
Water is removed and added to the Refugium every other night @ 11:00 pm.
Saltwater drain pump removes water from the inlet side of the Refugium. Drain pump runs for 1 minute which equates to about 2.5 gal.
New saltwater pump adds water to the pump side of the Refugium. This way the dirties water is removed and the new water is well mixed.
