Hi all,

I acquired new elegance 2 days back and its tentacles have been swollen and retracted the whole time, and I just might realised why..

When lights went out i noted white thing sticking out of its retracted flesh, thought it could be piece of rock or some unfortunate shellfish prey,,, removed it and it scared the hell out of me.. Its ugly and huge bug kinda thing. Id retract as well is such a monster would be munching on me.

Who came across these guys? just please dont tell me this thing is beneficial or favourable.

Looks like a mite or pod but can’t identify
Id get rid of it asap

The gall crab was not the issue, the coral was in acclimation mode. The gall crab was probably present in the coral skeleton for months or longer.

so in your opinion it was not harmful to coral?

My experience with gall crabs on/in a variety of LPS was that coral grew normally with no detriment with a gall crab present. Gall Crabs are not parasites.
