let's make a deal!

Last year I went to buy a Crocea clam from a guy that was tearing down his whole system for $30. That alone was a killer deal but when I got there he couldn't get the clam off the rock so he just gave me the whole rock including the assorted Acro, Birdsnest, and Aussie Acans that resided on it.

Forgot to mention that the clam is more likely a Maxima but I'm still not sure. I've gotten conflicting ID's.

Free because it came from a system infested with majanos. Entirety of its shell was covered took nearly 3 months to remove them all

Also a freebie because it was almost entirely bleached out. As well as like the clam was covered on all its edges by walls of majanos

I've got a some deals from Craigslist over the years...

(1) Free Borbonious Anthias from a guy who purchased a pair and one beat the other up. They just wanted it to go to a good home. It had almost no tail left.

(2) Free fish from a guy who was having power cut in his second home because bills had not been paid. Scored two huge Desjardini Tangs, two huge engineer Gobies, a porcupine puffer, HumuHumu Trigger, Valentini Puffer and a Grouper along with a bunch of hermit crabs and a giant green bristle star.

(3) Traded a Yellow Tang for a Purple Tang.

That's insane!!! LOL

The Purple was bullying other fish in this guy's tank, but it was only a 60g and his Purple was probably 5". My yellow was small and he had posted that he wanted a small Tang. I was surprised, as I figured he would want something a little more "exotic".

I picked up my first tank for $20 bucks. I got a used JBJ 28 Nanocube with stand, pumps, MH light, ReefKeeper 2 controller, and ATO. Granted it was filthy, but nothing I couldn't clean up over a weekend. I picked up an AI Prime non-HD the next week off craigslist for $80.

I got 2 used mp40 for $125. This was from a shop that was closing. Went in on the last day last 10 min and got them.

Also got an unused 90G tank and stand for $225 on Craigslist

got a 1/2" of WD for $60 from LFS. It came out of his store display. It was so cheap because it lost its color and had turned a pale purple only. I have had it for 2 months and now I can see green and blue starting to come in.
