I click reefbuilders about nine times a day, am very thankful for a web-inclusive job allowing such daily reefing
glad to see smaller reefs on there from time to time, per the comments section this was has some feedback pro and con, any featured reef is ok for review.
in my opinion, we're all keeping our animals in less than ideal conditions in one way or another, at one time or another, compared to nature so my initial take wasn't one of shock regarding fish or corals in small containers. it was that I wanted more input about his feeding routine, and age of the tank, and if he's had any algae issues changing the amnts of water he does, maybe additional details by the builder will be provided in updates or even in the comments section but until then we are left to guess.
Tanks without circulation have been around right at 4 ~ years now, the specific origination place to research the claim is nano-reef.com biotope forum, that mode of reefing is literally born and documented there, post any alternates known and Ill amend the statement. Jaubert is not breaking rules there, this bowl is in addition to the other stilled tanks that take up a valid niche in our hobby.
The fish inclusion has some passions pro or con, some readers aren't sure its fed well, Im not sure fish are fed well in a thousand nano tanks, but still Im missing details needed to make an opinion. Im not as impressed with what can be put into a container as Im impressed with unique engineering methods to pull it off for a long time
If the feeding details were something like regular large feedings of diverse items and then some form of mass export, even if the interim feedings were reduced or stopped, that'd be uncommon and show pre-planning IMO.
If there was plumbing to a larger system that allowed for the typical daily feeding for that fish but it was hidden, that's a unique planning angle. Even as is, if his fish is getting fed and there's no unique exports beyond the small water changes that too can work, but Id need lifespan details here to evaluate it. I enjoy the look of his bowl and Im glad to see stilled systems get formal focus from time to time for sure.
whats your take on this reefbowl
I was expecting a plenum
