I would like to see how you all roll when it comes to your Overflows. Looking for.....

1. Type - internal/external and why?
2. Full Siphon or air controlled?
3. Durso, Herbie, or Stockman? And why?
4. Anyone using a unique design different from the big 3?

H20 overflow made by custom aquariums really nice I like it it is a one hole drill runs 1200 gph with the barb but I plumbed it to 1 in so I'm only running a little over 900 but that's all I need for my eheim 1262

My main system has a durso style overflow. My smaller tanks, I did not want to drill. So, I have had a diy overflow that works exactly like the hob eshopps. I made a mame design for my 6g out of pvc, but I am not happy with it, so I am now changing both the 40g eshopps stype and mame to a regular old pvc style. I can get pics when I have my phone hooked up.

Here are my diy ones. I will get a pic of my pvc overflows in action and such in the next few days. Letting silicon dry. These are old pics of old designs, not the ones I am running, but close in style, just different u bends and tank box.

Internal corner overflow with durso
Why? Cause it was FREE!!!! lol

If i had the choice though, I'd go bean animal - external for the silence and the clean look from the inside. Although, I do like how close I could put this tank to the wall since I didn't have to worry about any plumbing behind the tank.

I have to say this h20 is almost silent. Plus you can get the template and drill kit it was my first drill 1 half in glass they have video online I drilled it perfect the first time.

Custom offset center internal overflow with a modified 1" Stockman. The cap is drilled and an airline tube fits snugly in the hole and is inserted until the flow increases and the sound decreases. Never saw a need for anything else and never an issue in over 13 years use. Return pump is a WaterBlaster HY-5000 running unrestricted through two returns.

External, built on the back of my tank. The only thing you see is the slotted teeth on the upper right side of my tank. I had Midwest customs build this for my tank.

Homemade internal /external overflow made it out of scraps of acrylic . Made the internal for some good surface skin and 3 drains to be safe.

External with four Dursos. Well, not exactly this image because this one has five. The newer version of my aquarium has four, after it was replaced. I love this method. It's simple and has worked perfectly for me since 2004.

Is your display tank Acrylic or glass? I like your set up and would want to mimic it on my glass 230 gal.

Well, my 210g no longer has a durso as I replaced it with a new acrylic tank a little while back. It has the overflow from Modular Marine. It is a bean animal version. Once dialed in, love it after 2 years. Takes abit to dial in, so be patient and you may have to cut some pipes to get it just right. It took me two attempts at pipe length and after water changes, I dial back in the main overflow pipe. No biggie.

This is sleak, takes no room in tank, handles a lot of water, silent once dialed in.
