I'm attempting to hatch some cuttlefish eggs. I've been tossing the idea of a macro tank around for a while. It really is much more beautiful in person, I have a really crappy camera. I'm looking to add some botryocladia(red grape), sargassum, h. gibessli(cotton candy), and maybe some galaxaura. I am enjoying it very much, fun project.

Nothing fancy but I have some Dragons Breath on either side of the tank. It's so dense it's always collecting detritus.
I tried this but my snails were munching it
Would like to do it again but need to catch few snails.
Any snails in your tank?

The only snail that ever ate mine were Mexican Turbos. That was a while ago and now I have Zebra Turbos and Banded Trocus and they leave it alone.

I personally would remove the green grape tho that stuff spreads fast! there better macos out there.

I had to reread it a few times tho.. at 1st I thought you said you had a 100gal fuge on your 12mr. Aqua..lol
years a go I was setting up a 40gal display fuge for a 75 but ended up having to take the tank down before it was done.

I was a bit concerned how fast it grows, it actually came in on a rock. I'm trying to get more of the decorative types of algae and some of them aren't as aggressive at removing nutrients. It's likely going to be a high nutrient tank and I'm wondering if it will be good or bad to keep it. I do like the way it looks, and the variety of available macros aren't as available as I had hoped. Only one lfs has any here, and it's the basics, caulerpa, gracalaria, and chaeto.

I woukd keep it and see how it does. I am not 100% how fast it grows. But I am pretty sure slow to med. Evey tankbis different..It need nutrients and mag/CA. So keep those level right. I don't think it will be a big exporter of nutrients tho
As far as greens go, I think it may have something to do with lighting. I had to rethink my whole outlook on lighting and what I actually considered pleasing to the eye. I've managed to get a good visual pleasing spectrum, everything seems happy and my rocks and crushed coral are even turning green. I have 4x24 T5s: ati blue+ and purple+, with a coralife 6700k and a geismann super flora; additionally an 18w 8000k led bar.

This is my seahorse tank. I have dragon's breath, red grape, red titan, gracilaria, feather caulerpa, codium, some sort of green macro that looks like pine needles and cheato in my fuge. Its hard to see the macros in a FTS. O yeah, did I mention thriving green bubble algae? Ha ha!

Thank you LetItReef, since it is seahorse tank I am limited with the coral I can keep so I get the pop of color from macro algae. I love the green and red together.
