Interested in what people have under their stand for plumbing. Manifolds, unions, and even reactors count! In the process of designing my sump/plumbing and would love to get some ideas. Currently thinking of a manifold that would have quick connect valves and al that fun stuff.

All that fancy stuff is great, but remember, every connection, valve, turn, bend of your plumbing decreases the amount of flow back to your display tank. Just something to think about. I try to keep it simple for maximum flow, or spend more $$$ for that bigger pump. JMO

I am thinking of an L1 just for this reason. The M1 would probabaly work fine.. just thinking the extra upgrade will go longer if I ever upgrade to a larger tank. What connections do you recommend other than unions, ball valves, quick connections?

Goodnesss gracious that is a beautiful sump.

Head pressure be danged - if I could organize everything like that then I'd pop the extra money for a larger pump no problem. My stand looks like a jungle of pipes, wires, tubes and hot mess.

Any disadvantages to soft flex pvc?

soft flex pvc i believe can't be glued. Needs to be clamped. I wanted somewhat flexible PVC but wanted to be able to glue it just like regular PVC. I guess to me it is a little more reassuring then a clamp. I think clamp i always think flood. LOL

so to re answer your question i see no disadvantage to soft flex PVC. Same as regular PVC but you can bend to help get those angles and curves to avoid any 90 degree fittings
Do bends affect the head pressure despite them not involving a t valve or elbow? Also just another question i have was can you add an emergency shut off valve on the overflow > tank output line?

The slight bends don't really affect head pressure. And you can add shut of valves wherever you want. You cut the Ultra Flex PVC just like regular PVC, add your valve and continue with the Flex on the other side. Even if the power went out and the drains took water from my tank my sump holds the amount that comes out. Have tested it, so had no need for shut off valves on my drain lines. Just added one to my return line.
