I started this build in the beginning of 2020. I think that I was still looking for the right tank right before COVID hit. Here is what I have going on so far.

Building the stand


The tank - 220 AGA no built in overflows. I installed one myself.



Finally got all of the plumbing done


Lights were next. I know that they aren't fancy... but they are strong. I went with 6 vipars I currently have the lights at 40 blue and 1 white.




The sump is a Bashsea 48x18 smart sump. Love it, currently trying to run the triton method on this tank. We will see.


Not much for life in the tank as of yet. I have a few random corals, and a couple of fish. Can't wait to get this thing stabalized and full Taking my time though and making sure that I have what I want in there. So this has been my 2020 trip.

About 4 months old now. Got bored and pulled the oceanic biocube (probably 12 years old) out the garage. Used established rock from my other tank and new live sand. Has a jbj ato and other than the top removed and light no real mods (budget build). Ignore my loud tv and colorations (had to turn the blues all the way down to not completely wash out in blue)

day after install Thursday 24th September 2020, skimmer arrived a week later, and this morning, forgive the blues. Sorry its filthy, weekly WC today 250-300L , i hate the mobile pics too but Santa never delivered my Nikon 200mm Micro......must have been a naughty boy i guess.

Mental note to come back in the day time and upload a pic. This shot is at night, on my Red Sea Max Nano ... had to bump up the exposure so you could see into it, but everything is asleep. Dealt with a major tank crash about 2 months ago that happened after a Kalk ATO sensor got stuck. Ugh. But most things are starting to come back. Built my rockscape pretty low so the new SPS frags have room to grow and fill out. Have 2 acros and 2 birdsnest on top, 2 montis halfway down, 1 hammer, 6 LPS, 1 ricordia. Haven't gotten my build thread updated, but some of the coral are on the existing build thread.

(and no, that isn't a light in the middle of my tank .. it's a reflection of my kitchen pendant lamp)

Don't be mate, we all do what we are able to and i struggle to keep up sometimes, being Aussie and coastal has helped a lot but its not like i have not had a roller coaster ride at times.
Sometimes i wish i was in the USA, there is so much variety over there with large development in coral aquaculture, the great majority of what we get in Australia is wild harvested coral, great for the collectors and exporters, sometimes not so great for the aquarist. Wild coral `can change colors drastically and the reef systems they are collected from vary in temps quite a lot so sometimes its a challenge to get coral from the same climate zone on a reef, you can tell the ones that don't match your system easily, one day they are there, the next they are a puddle of slime
