We All As Reefers Have To Admit We've All Drooled Over The Looks Of Exotic Fish And Corals. We All Have Spent A Little More Then We Should On That One Fish Or Coral We Can't Live Without. But Why Do We Do This?

We As Humans Are Very Much Drawn To Rare Items Because We Like To Have Something Someone Else Doesn't Have. Now For Us As Reefers This Could Mean Anything From The Rare And Elusive Koi Tang. That One Coral From The Fish Store That Equaled Your Whole Months Rent.

Another Reason We Are Attracted To Most Rare Species Is Because Of There Bright Colors And Eye Catching Patterns. Most Of Us Would Rather Obtain A Bright Colored Piece Of Livestock Over A Dull Colored Item. This Is Becuase They Stand Out More In A Group.

So Let's See Some Of Your Crazy Livestock You've Collected For Your Reef!

For me it's not that I might acquire something rare that hobbyist do not commonly keep, I keep what fascinates me.
Why I am drawn to Acropora I can not describe. I find Acropora insanely beautiful and dynamic, I assume fish people feel the same way about certain species.

For years I collected Octopus from the Back Bay in New Port Beach California, I raised them from tiny specimens. It was an experience I'll always have fond memories of. Below my Ursula, I had her almost from the moment of hatch until she died of old age at 9 months. I kept her on the kitchen counter, kids from all over the neighborhood would come to see her and she would wave her tentacles out of the tank to inspect visitors.
