Here's mine a 6*2 as well just 30" tall.

Definitely not great carpentry but a very sturdy stand there's plenty of room underneath for maintenance given that it seems like all the store-bought ones are way too small down below. I also have a little LED light attached under the stand so I can see what's going on when it's dark. I do have a door for the front of it that I can attach to make it look cleaner but I just usually leave it off.

Welded 120 steel stand. Coated with por 15. Still no magnetic doors. Kind of like the ease of an open stand.
Will get around to panels one day.
This is in the rough. Not much to see as this is how it looks before and now.

Another steel stand... had it welded up by a local fab shop, and powder coated.

Cabinetry is my work. Surround is painted with coral scenes and fishes by my daughter, with a quarter inch of bar top poly over that. Sump and other life support gear is behind the back wall, in a re-purposed coat closet.

Gives me a nice place to rest a cold beverage of an evening :)

I like the ones with feet on them not just flat to the floor.

Working on my WaterBox Cube 20 stand. Two doors, one on the front and one on the side for controls. Door hinges are soft close and a drawer under the display for storage. I’m sure I’ll add as I go.

Building a stand and attached side cabinet for a 180 penisula , in its beginning stages now. Front will get 2 built in open cubbies on each side flanking and a large open shelf area in the center to display items on. Side will also get a display shelf area. Sump is below in the basement so nothing tank related goes below in the cabinet. Overflow will go into side cabinet along with controllers .

so, a question to all the carpenters. When measuring my structural pine for the cuts is it ok to make the front and back horizontal posts the length of the tank plus the extra for the width of the wood? I don't want any visible joins from the front angle even on the inside of the frame? And with it being a 4ft tank will I need to add center supports to the top and bottom of the frame?

My husband built this stand about 15 years ago. We’ve recently made the difficult decision to leave the hobby since we don’t give out tank the time it deserves now that we have kids. Think we’ll have any luck selling this custom stand?

No, but if you're concerned you can use 2x6's for your top framing. Look up Rocketengineer's design specs. I used them years ago to build mine. I think I found them on the other (not R2R) forum, but they may be on here somewhere.
