Let's see your Gorgonians (a.k.a.) SeaFans

Some may argue that a gorgonian is not a soft coral, but they are very similar. Though sea fans have a semi ridgid skeleton, they are not classified as hard corals, since they lack a hard limestone skeleton. Another simle way to tell the differance between hard and soft corals is by the tentacle count on the polyps. Soft corals generally have eight tentacles versus six on hard corals. Some may classify a gorgonian as being a leather. Below are some pics of my Blueberry Gorgonian. Show em off boys and girls!

How long have you had the blue berry. What do you feed. I've always wanted one from the beginning of my tank but have always read how difficult they are. I believe the hard part is that they are not what do you do to keep yours alive.

. I just picked up the BlueBerry a few weeks ago. The LFS that i frequent often gave me a super deal on it. $45.00 ! I guess people say they are hard to keep because you have to target feed them. I feed mine about 2 to 3 times a week. They are slow growers. I've had my Red Finger Leather for a little over a year. Has'nt grown much because my Baby Blue Hippo Tang likes to pick the new tips off it !

Really, only 2 or 3 times a week? I thought it had to be daily. I really need to give one a try. I have several gorgs in my tank. I like the motion they give my sps dominant tank. I picked up a nice yellow from unique in Friday, I'll post a pic later when I get home.

Mine just get fed when i feed other corals i broadcast feed except for duncan. Feed diff foods reef chili, coral frenzy, phyto feast, oyster feast. Usually feed every couple of days.

My Gorg's seem to be content feeding them 3 times a week on average. But the more you feed the faster they grow. As goes with anything.

The Blueberry was about 4 inches wide and 6 inches high at time of purchase.

Absolutely horrible photo, but I had 3 (re-homed all my corals due to re-doing my display tank).

The spiral coral is one of my favorites of all the corals/sea fans/etc

that is one healthy blueberry. i had gotten one and it did well for a couple weeks then started to die on me. any tips? i would love to get another.
