Let's talk about EXTERNAL glass cleaning?

I use a damp microfibre that's made for glass (very short nap) and buff with paper towel, works perfect every time, no smears and very quick.

Well, this took off overnight.

After I clean my Red Sea 650 I wax the glass with automotive wax it really leave spotless Finnish make my scraper slide smoothly it even help keep some of the new salt splashes and smudges from happening . Even keep fingerprints off glass

Microfiber and auto wax sounds sexy, man. Any particular brand? I like that it's a little over the top - which seems to be modus operandi lately.

I do the same. I think as long as care is taken to spray in an area that isn't near the tank, it's not a big concern.

Same here. Makes the glass so darn clean.

I've used vinegar and RO/DI, as I'd read that ammonia can cause damage to the glass over time. Wet papertowel followed by buffing with a dry one ... but that squeegee sounds interesting!

For the general maintenance on the glass is just a bit of stoners in a waffle weave MF towl. Prior to filling my tank I had machine polished my glass on the outside with Car Pro Ceriglass and sealed with Gtechniq G1 Clear vision.

I don't use it but there is a commercially available tank glass cleaner you can buy.....I would NEVER use windex as it leaves a chemical residue ( that's why it says keeps windows cleaner longer) and I you touched the tank glass then put the hand back in the water it could be an issue....I would just never take the risk....at least not while rodi and a squeegee works safer.

Add another for just keeping up with it with some microfiber towels. You can get large packs of them for cheap on Amazon. I have an auto-renewal on them and get a new pack of like 30 every few months.

I use 'e cloth window cleaning class and window polishing pack' which consist of 2 clothes one of which you just get damp with water, and wipe the glass down (this removes grease, marks etc) and then immediately after whilst still damp you use the fine polishing cloth. You can get them online.

The tank glass is spotless and absolutely no smears at all. Works with either normal or RO. There also antibacterial but without chemicals.

vinegar/RODI in spray bottle, then wipe with one cloth to get most of it gone. Switch to a dry microfiber after that and you'll be streak free.

Just don't spray the windex anywhere near the tank.

I just spray Ro water, wipe the smudges with a paper towel then dry with another paper towel. This works well to remove toddler hand smudges haha

I owned a glass company for years, and will tell you the best cleaners are foaming clean i.e Castle foaming glass cleaner is my personal fav mainly because of cost p/case but good old paper towels are perfect. Towels and micro towels can leave streaks while wet preferably used after drying with PT.. Newspaper works well but just doesn't feel right.. But obviously don't let any get in tank lol..

Grade#0000 steel wool works great on car windows to as long as tint has not been added I use it before I put rain X on my windsheilds

I have the rainX wipers and what a waste of money the leave rows of lines across the windows

Although windex and wax sounds great, glass is porous believe it or not, you don't want to use chemical. My buddy uses a blade and scrapes the glass which looks amazing. You can go online to streakfreeproducts.com ( streak free products) they sell this towel that all you do is damp and wipe your glass. I use it. It works wonders and is so cheap and best of all.. no chemicals.
