Let's talk about safe handling for the average reefer

There's been quite a a few replies regarding specific chemicals and handling practices, but I've never seen a general reef compound safety thread. Most of us are familiar with household compounds and the dangers of mixing them (ie bleach and ammonia), but I've rarely seen a cautionary disclaimer for safe practices beyond a pH warning.

People love to hyper fixate on toxic organic compounds (palys, blennys, lionfish), but is there any other precautions we should be taking with additives?
