If you have sps corals then more times than not you've had to deal with the horrors of watching your beautiful acro's or other sps turn Brown or bleach out and there's never been a good place to look for info! What I would like to hear is how your corals ended up brown or bleached and how you corrected the problem. Iv had mine bleach and stop growing from a 5 degree temp change a day when summer came after I switched to mh lighting, and fixed with chiller acro's regained color and started growing agen a couple of months after the chiller was added. And I had them brown out when my wife bought a bunch of plug in air freshener and aerosols and flooded the room with them, fix removed air freshener added lot's of carbon and water changes. Hope others tell there story's because I know someone out there will be grateful if you post helps solves his problems txs!

Also had my corals brown out when I first started keeping acro's because my skimmer wasn't big enough. fix bigger skimmer .

This will be a great thread.iv had my sps brown out from 40 ppm nitrates.caused by not keeping up with weekly water changes and not enough flow in my sump so detritus would build up.Now I have power heads in each chamber of my sump on timers and I make sure to keep up on my water changes. Also have bleached many sps because I didn't acclimate them to my light, light acclimation is so important

Thxs's for the reply just what I wonted to hear .how the problem started and how it was fixed and how long it took to get color back would be nice also because that's a big question also it was around 2 months before I started seeing good color coming back in mine.

We reefers are a funny breed. We for the most part all fall into the category of "over caregivers" for our reefs. I always love going to the lfs and listening to nearly everyone talking about how they are going to change this and that on their tank. Then u hear the others talking about how they changed this or that and all their corals died or lost color. Then there is that lone guy in the corner. He is still using the same lighting and skimmer he had 5 years ago. He hasn't upgraded lighting, hasn't changed to the latest craze. U see a pic if his tank and the answer is so clear. Just do a good setup the first time and quit constantly changing stuff. The most amazing reefs I have ever seen are old and using equipment that has been on the tank for a long time.

Now......... I need to start taking my own advice lol!
