Hi everyone. Hope you don’t mind my very basic question and I’m sure there is quite a bit of debate on the topic.

My question is basic lighting.

I have a quad odyssey T5 hood with a built in timer.

I have 2 ATI coral plus and 2 ATI Actinic lights.

I just don’t know if all 4 should be on at once. Should I set the 10k on then bring on the Actinic and then lastly I have 8LEDs that are basically for night.

Can you give me some pointers on timing the lights,? How much? Should they be on for X amount of hours ect ect ect.

Much appreciated!

All depends on what corals you're keeping and what kind of par output your light fixture has. Most reefers do an 8 to 12 hour light schedule. You could have the blue leds come on first then the t5s and then the t5s off with leds still on and then leds off for nighttime.

On my first tank when I had a T5 light, I did the LED's at night for a moonlight effect, started with the blues (actinic) as a ramp up and down, and had the actinic plus the coral for the peak. So basically I ran 3 hours with only actinic, then 4 hours with both, then another 3 hours with just actinic, then turned the T5's off and went to LED's until schedule started over again in the morning.
