Leveling established tank

A little over 2 years post move to a new house and my tank (40B) is now about 3/16 off level from to back. My guess is the carpet and padding where I have it was previously "squashed" unevenly from the prior owners furniture. Is it possible to level it in situ, or should I drain into buckets, level and re-fill? I don't have a second 40 to drain into temporarily, unfortunately.

And when it comes to leveling, are a few shims under the front of the stand good enough? I have the tank on 3/4 inch plywood on top of the stand, so leveling there is an option too.

I think you'll find it very challenging to level it completely full, but you may be able to with half the water or less.

Personally just leave it. You could cause yourself a world of hurt

If you can, during a large water change (like 100%) you could level it with shims and such. I do these sort of water changes every now and then. Plus, with it unlevel, run risk of cracks due to uneven pressure.
I admit, not sure all my tanks are completely level though.

The next time you do a water change , put a few shims under the front of the stand .
I wouldn’t shim between the tank and stand.
be warned moving it with any water risks cracking.

walmart sells 32g garbage cans for like $18 I thought, If you got room, might not be a bad idea to keep a empty can around…I got 6 for emergencies

This isn't that difficult.
Use a car jack on the side of the stand that needs to be leveled higher. Jack up slightly and place shims underneath.

I have 2 for water changes .
They work great for storing water. .
Sadly they aren’t the easiest to move without wheels .
And take up a lot of room to store
