I have welded out a new stand and plan on using threaded inserts with leveling feet. My question is for those of you who have done this, is it worth the extra cost for the corrosion resistant ones from Mcmaster-carr or have you found this to be unnecessary? I addition for those who have opted for other options of leveling setups what have you done and how is it working out?

Spend the bucks;)

I know, I know...hoping the plethora of responses might tell me it was not needed haha
Stainless carriage bolts and milk jug caps:eek::D

The stainless ones are probably 304, and will still rust...just not as bad as a mild steel. Keep in mind that using leveling feet can reduce the surface area that the tank weight is distributed to. I wound up laying down strips of 1/8" rubber, 2x4's on top, and then my stand on it. That gave me plenty of surface area that wouldn't risk cracking my floor tile, kept the stand up high enough I can dry up any spills, and keeps from trapping water under the 2x4's if there is a spill.

Decided for forgo spending 142 on inserts and leveling feet for $14 for 3/4 grade 8 nuts and bolts with 1/4 steel for feet I had lying around

you're putting mild steel directly onto the floor? I hope you don't have carpet.

I do not have carpet but I will be powder coating or rubber coating the feet.

Keep in mind that the threads can't be powdercoated or rubber coated. As they get wet and rust, the rust will drip down. Just be careful to dry it well if there's a spill.

Thank you for your input. I'm aware of some of the coating limitations and will be aware of spills once it all gets going. All I lack if powder coating and receiving the rock before I get the tank up and running.
