So my EAReefPro 1200 arrived today.

I've strengthened the floor joists, and have plywood hardwood sat on top of the carpet and the tank cabinet on top of this.

The floorboards under the tank is level however due to the carpet gripper there's now a slight slope on the carpet.

I've had a look at different shims and seen that the window shims from screwfix should be used, however do I place these between the cabinet and the plywood or the carpet and the plywood?

I'm thinking it should be the latter as the plywood would maintain the level supporting surface, is this correct?

I had to slightly shim one corner of my 100gal. I just slid them between the carpet and tank stand. No issues thus far. It put the bead on the level dead center and has maintained consistency.
I never really thought of doing it any other way.

Between the cabinet and the plywood.

If you put them between the carpet and plywood, the may act like a point load and 'sink' into the carpet. Not a big deal, but it could result in needing to use slightly thicker shims to compensate for the 'effective' height that is lost from sinking into the carpet.

Hmmn, on top of carpet is always problematic because as the tank fills it will compress the carpet and end up out of level. You actually do want to put the shims between the carpet and the base plywood. Not sure of your tanks dimensions, but perhaps three points for shims along the front.

I agree with between the cabinet and the plywood. Additionally, I would shim in as many places along the cabinet as you can - I don't recommend just one or two small shims at the end of in a corner that would be supporting a lot of the load. Good luck!
