Ok my buddy who also dose a lot of glass work for my company has a bunch of left over 3/4 lexan he bought for a job . I can get it from him for a good price . My questions is does lexan glue just like acrylic . I have worked with acrylic before and never had any problem just wondering if lexan is harder or about the same .

hi i use weld on 16 on acrylic,no lexan will be a different weld # ,much harder ,check the weld on site happy reefing

I think that lexan may be different than acrylic?

I'm not an expert (I am in the sign industry, but I don't do production on lexan faces, just led displays), but I know that lexan has a very strong "afinity for water". How that may translate for a salt water aquarium...

I've used lexan sheets at lids for my tanks before, and they tend to get brittle after a couple years.

Acrylic actually absorbs a little more water than polycarbonate, depending on the exact formulation. Its more impact resistant, but has a lower young's modulus than acrylic. Brittle sounds like the material deteriorated from UV.
