I have a little DIY project I'm working (not quite ready to reveal but will do if it pans out) but need a LIQUID epoxy that's completely inert when cured. Basically the liquid equivalent to water weld. Also can't be too thick when mixed so it can flow relatively easy into a mold let's say ;)

I haven't met an epoxy I did not like!

That is, I don't know of any epoxy that would be a problem in our tanks.....from the semi-clear liquidy hardware store stuff, to a little thicker J-B Weld, to putty-like plumber's Rectoseal. I've used them all without issue.

I thought jb weld has heavy metals in if and wasn't reef safe

No heavy metals...but it does contain iron and a pinch of titanium. However, these are "encapsulated" in the plastic matrix of the epoxy.

Rod building epoxy stays very fluid for at least an hour. Not too sure if it is aquarium safe, but after it cures, I wouldn't imagine there woul be a problem. That said, I'm no chemist.

I’m curious what are the pros and cons of the expoy’s that were used?

It’s been a few years... what is the three year review?
The polyester casting resin I used seems to hold up 6-7 years, and counting.
The part of the eggcrate that attaches the resin covered magnets to the eggcrate was the weak point and many have broken at that point.
The resin is still solid.
