I need to get a new Brute for my salt mix and I saw they do a white version. I was thinking that would be a good option to make sure I’m not getting any cruddy build up or that there’s no debris in the water.

However thinking about it, the benefit of the black is I can see if the salt is thoroughly mixed. I’m wondering if perhaps it’d be much harder to tell if there was undissolved salt in a white bin.

Does anyone have any experience they can share?

The colors typically represent the rating of the container. White typically means food safe. Best to do additional research prior to purchase.

regardless of which color you do end up with you can count on a minor amount of brown sludge accumulating below the water level. Either color will allow you to see if salt is dissolved but in general, 20 mins with a decent pump moving it and you're good

Just make sure the one you get is food safe. As others have said, different colors usually mean different grades of plastic, not just a color option.

As far as seeing build up on containers, I've had my 55g drums set up for almost 2 years, and there is some residue on the side but nothing getting mixed into the salt. I also have a recirculating loop that goes through a coarse filter sock to get the fine particulate out.

Thanks for all the feedback, and good shout on the colors. I’ll either go white or gray.
