lfs fish disease ID

Can you guys tell me what disease these fish have? I saw them last Wednesday and went to pick one up on Friday and this is what I saw.

I've luckily never had to deal with anything other than internal parasites and possible Brook that went away on its own.

please educate me

Going off the crazy amount of small white dots it is clearly velvet.

what are their chances of survival? i had the shop hold one for me for a week.

they said they will treat them but who knows.

Hard to say. The fish still seems active and alert so hopefully it'll survive. Note that the recommended treatment time for velvet is a month. Also the fact that they have sand in their tank makes me doubt they actually use a good medication for their fish as the sand will really mess with medication levels

i guess i should pass on these huh. dang, been looking for a flasher for a long time. Canada is not reef friendly enough lol
