LFS hangs screws in their tanks...why?

The place i go to get me good corals has 1 screw hanging in each of their tanks.
is there a benefit to this? Im just wondering. If its bad for the water, id like to inform them. Thanks

I would actually ask them about it as they would "know why they do it", and ask what kind of screw they use. I don't think its a spectacular idea, but may be semi-beneficial as I know some of the better natural reefs are on old sunken ships which contain alot of different metals etc.

Only possibility that I can really think of right now would be iron supplementation, maybe??

Depending what kind of screw it is, it is very common to allow sps to grow on a string, many believe that the surrounding flow create better shapes and healthier corals. So my guess would be for some reason like this and that it is just convient to have a small screw to attach a polyp to.

That sounds interesting... Curious why they do that too. Could be the "grow on a string" method. I have seen that too.

I actually have a frag rack suspended from my center brace by fishing line. IT sways back and forth and I dont even need a wave maker. My zoanthid frags are growing faster than they are selling. which good, cuz i sell zoas quick
