LFS keeps fish in antibiotics?

Is this a thing?!? I’ve heard they keep fish in low doses of copper but antibiotics? Girl on the phone didn’t know what kind and asked me to call back tomorrow.

My local fish store has been going down. Fish looking stressed and diseased. Taking my business elsewhere. found a place an hr away that has healthy looking fish. But they’re kept in antibiotics. Should I be worried about this? Immunity and all?

What kind of antibiotics are they kept in? Prophylactic use of antibiotics is not recommended for resistance reasons. As well as the overall health of the fish after long term exposure.

Is it possible someone said antibiotics because they aren't familiar with the types and classifications of the meds we use?

I asked what kind of antibiotics but she didn’t know. I suppose it IS possible she misspoke. But she was sure no copper. I’ll have to call tomorrow and speak to someone who’s more knowledgeable. Will let u know what I find out. Thx

Every LFS I’ve bought from here in Orlando runs copper, and Prazi at a minimum. I have had some admit to running metro or GC also.

Interesting. I’ve only ever heard of stores using copper. Maybe it’s different where I’m from? Canada. Maybe I’ll ask a few other places too
