i currently am not using a lid but was wondering the pros and cons of lids vs no lids. What’s your preference?

Screen top is best to insure no fish jump out and still have proper gas exchange with the ambient air.

I prefer the look without a lid- on a rimless tank especially but it all depends on what you want to keep. Certain fish are pretty prone to jump out and in my tank (no lid-rimless) I find snails on the floor every so often. If you are talking about glass lids, the get salt creep and condensation that block light. I have a ClearView lid by Artfully Acryllic to be delivered this Tuesday which is about as clean looking as you get without the drawbacks of a glass lid. I want wrasses so a lid is pretty mandatory.

Depending on the type of fish you are thinking of keeping then some kind of cover might be essential, I currently have a full glass cover on my current display but the sump is uncovered to help with gas exchange, my last tank ran sumpless so I had a mesh cover to help stop fish jumping but I have quite a few wrasse and they are well known jumpers, I tried running without any cover but lost a clown and a firefish both jumped so is covered for me.

I prefer the look with no lid. But my list of new fishes is getting reduced because i don't want to put one, specially there are many Wrasses and Gobies that i want that require a lid.

I would definitely choose a screen top vs a solid lid due to gas exchange, already struggling with C02.

And looking forward for people recommending nice looking lids online stores

I just received my lid from Artfully Acrylic and it is awesome! It took a little over 6 weeks to get it but totally worth it. You can barely see it unless looking at the tank from above. You’ll have to pardon the lack of corals as the tank is new :)
