I'm starting my first saltwater tank, a 20 gallon. And I have a bunch l equipament on it that make it dificult to use a regular lid. I'm waiting for egg crates to arrive from Amazon but I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to cover the whole tank. I was palning on having 2 clown fish. I don't know what to do. The acrylic solution will be too expensive.

There is now way to put a lid arround this.

You can probably get a clip wide enough to fit the lip of your tank then just cutout the eggcrate around w/the equipments.

I used the diy screen kit from bulk reef supply on my 20 gallon. It was cheap, easy and works great.
You can buy extra connectors to make it work around equipment.

I did the same thing! My return line is an over the top so I had to go around it.

Excellent suggestions. You could also buy a manufactured glass top and remove the hinge. What you will be left with is 2 sections of glass.Use one or both to carefully cover the area without the equipment. The panes should fit on the inner plastic trim. You will still have a large opening.Better than no cover though.

Hey, Hugo. Welcome to Reef2Reef. This looks to be the 3rd thread you've posted on this very subject. The usual protocol here is to just post a tank thread and ask your questions in there. You may also find the search function helpful. Best of luck with your tank!

All fish will jump over the past 54 years of fish keeping I have had or have had every type of fish jump out of an aquarium. the new screen lids are wonderful addition to aquarium keeping.
