Sort of a weird question but here it goes...

My aquarium has its braces lower down the canopy, with the rim higher up. Should I place the mesh lid on the rim or lower down on the braces. I guess my real question is will a fish that gets stuck on the braces be able to flop itself back in the tank, or do I need the netting low enough to prevent them from getting up there in the first place?

That depends on where your water level will be in the tank. Generally you want your lid at least an inch or so higher than the water level. If a fish jumps out and lands on the brace it's really a toss-up whether or not it will flop back into the tank or get grilled under the lights.

Yeah decided it’s not worth the risk of anything getting fried. A little more work but having the mesh lower down will give me better peace of mind.
