I have an IM 20g tank and I was wondering if the lid that it comes with is adequate enough to contain a firefish. I've read that firefish are jumpers and need a "tight fitting" lid. The lid that's comes with the tank just sits on top of the tank. Do I need or should I get a different lid?

This lid will be enough, it actually sit inside the tank and it is a snug fit. It will definitely prevent big jumpers. I have the same lid on my Nuvo 10.

However, if you get a small firefish I would suggest replacing the 1/4 inch with 1/8 inch net as my small sissortail goby managed to jump through the 1/4 inch netting in the beginning.

Thanks for the info.

Does IM sell this lid on their site? Do you know where to purchase this type of lid?

Lid is good enough, but if you have a HOB filter or anything hanging on back, you have to close these small gaps. It can jump thru there.

My firefish got through 1/4 inch netting so I would use 1/8.

Firefish can get through the smallest opening just like a mouse. Ive seen them get through the overflow teeth and then take the jump

I find that fish somehow have a knack for being able to locate and jump out of tiniest openings.

Hi @Dizzle26, how is it going?

Lids are very particular, but most of times they can help more than just keep all your fishes in. But if you think that's the most important to you, they must work for you, but you better keep an eye on it as you know how the firefishes are good in find space to get out. Did you see already any other lid option that you like?

Hey @Top_Lids. I haven't looked at any other lid options to be honest. I ordered the mesh online so I just kind of stopped looking.

If keeping the fish in is most important, then the mesh screens work just fine to be honest. 1/8" definitely best. We use a rectangular mesh that's a tad smaller than 1/8" so it may be worth looking into as well.

Best of luck man

Thanks so much. I'll definitely take a look at your site.
