So I have tons of the purple life rock in my tank...and I added some snails about a month ago...they seem to be sanding the life rock. Has anyone else had this issue?
I have a bare bottom tank and they have sanded the life rock so much that I have a very noticeable pile on one end of the tank below the gyre. It's really hard to syphon out being rock. Are they just knocking off the loose stuff or are they literally sanding it down?

I’m guessing it’s not your snails. Caribsea life rock has a lot of loose sand/debris in it. I have some and every time I blow the rocks off with a turkey baster, sand and sort white little bits of rock come shooting out of the holes in the rock.

I have life rock in my 14 gallon tank and I find little bits of it on the floor of the sandbed every now and again. I just write it off as bits of rock that over time have come loose from snails/cleaning. I'd not worry too much about it unless it starts to look unsightly and that bothers you.

Seen it with urchins but not with snails.

Is there algae on the rock for the snails to graze on?
