I want to re-aquascape my tank, will it hurt the bacteria living on the life rock to take it out and put adhesive on it? Thanks

As long as you only keep it out of the tank for a few hours at a time the bacteria will do just fine. It just can't dry out completely.

As mentioned just keep it as wet as possible and it will be fine.
