I have 2 active tanks, 125g with 55g refugium. Cal-470, alk-9.0, mag-1380. Nitrate at 0.16ppm, phosphate at 0.08, salinity at 1.025. Temp at 79.8. Ph-8.3
A 30g with a 20g refugium. Cal-420, alk-10.1, mag-1360, nitrate-0.025, phosphate-0.06, salinity at 1.025, temp-80.4, ph-8.2.
I have one squamosa, one hippopus, one crocea in my 125g and one derasa, and one maxima in my 30g.
In both tanks,starting with the 30g I noticed some extremely small snails on my ceramic clam mount I have my maxima on. I did not realize they were snails until after watching the specks that they were moving. These snails are not the size of a grain of rice. They are much, much smaller. 0.25mm would be large for them to say the least. I personally believe they are smaller than that. Needless to say I crushed them with my finger. (I did try to pick one up but it was too small to pickup with my fingers) these little creatures are not white. The shells are a brownish green. They do move rather fast for there size. I then started to check all my clams and needless to say, they are in both my tanks. I will get pictures or a video tonight. I'm sure it is a parasite snail but what kind I don't know.
What is the life cycle of these parasites?? And how often can I clean my clams, picking them up and all, without killing them and stressing them out?
