I was thinking about adding a UV sterilizer to my 450 gallon system. I have been looking at these units from Lifeguard, its their Pro-Max series.

I can't find any reviews on these, is there anyone here using them, if so any feedback?

Also, the recommended flow rate says 2800 GPH which seems awfully high, what flow rates are you guys running on 90w UV's?

Just picked one up and installed the 90 watt 3 inch version on my 280 gallon. Very nice units

Nice! Have you noticed any difference in the tank after running it for a few days? I finally received mine, now I need to plumb it in.
 
I’m running it on a Cor20 pump. I will install a Neptune flow meter in the straight section of return pipe later
 
Very nice looking Set up. Planning to get one along with a roller filter closer to Christmas hopefully on a sale. I was thinking of putting it on my full siphon drain rather than a separate pump.

My overflows are maxed out trying to keep up with my reeflo return pump, so I went with a separate pump. I would definitely plumb it into the siphons if you can
 
Well it’s been running a few days now and my water is crystal clear. I have never seen it so clear. Algae on the glass is also not building up as fast.
 
@jpas I'm thinking of getting the same sterilizer and plumbing just as you did. Did you run into any problems in your sump with it plumbed that way?
 
I have had my 90 watt up and running since July 2019. I used 1" reducing couplers for inlet and output. No issues reducing pipe size. After a LOT of research, I determined that the best placement for a UV is from the return section of the sump back to the main display. If using for parasite control, it's best if 100% of return goes through the UV. It's not always possible to do it this way and it will limit your flow through the sump, but if you can it's the best most efficient way to go.
 
I have had mine 1y9m and have zero issues. awesome unit, easy to maintain cheaper to purchase and maintain than the other units. 100 percent the way to go. quite few people run these units here with no reported issues,

Lifeguard makes great UVs...however that reccomended flow is for 30K killing power. If you want 180K killing power you need to divide that by 6. Here is the info on their 120W UV...which is what I have
120W 3 inch
4,000 gph=30,000 uw/s/cm2
2,000 gph=60,000 uw/s/cm2
1,333 ghp=90,000 uw/s/cm2
1,000 gph=120,000 uw/s/cm2
667 gph=180,000 uw/s/cm2
500 gph=240,000 uw/s/cm2
